Focus and Scope

The Journal of Contemporary Medical Sciences (JCMS) is a bi-monthly peer-reviewed open access publication of Nab'a Al-Hayat Foundation for Medical Sciences and Health Care, Iraq. JCMS launched in January 2015 with quarterly frequency and since 2019 it has been published bi-monthly.

The Journal of Contemporary Medical Sciences provides a wide range of articles discussing current advancements in the field of clinical medicine, dentistry, and basic biomedical sciences, including but not limited to internal medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, urology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, dermatology, hematology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, parasitology, entomology, infectious diseases, microbiology, virology, immunology, epidemiology, chemotherapy, community medicine, public health, and more.

The journal aims to publish original research, review articles and short communications about molecular and cellular processes in disease, in order to increase understanding of the fundamental principles and biological questions of medicine. Researchers in academic and clinical settings as well as health professionals are encouraged to publish their theoretical and experimental results in this journal, which aims to integrate expertise from the molecular and translational sciences, therapeutics, and diagnostics in different medical specialties.

Peer review process:

Journal of Contemporary Medical Sciences is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. All manuscripts will be acknowledged upon pre­senting to the Journal office, if all stated requirements are met. According to the policy of peer review in our Journal, a large extent of manuscripts are rejected through an in-house evaluation process based on a category of criteria including over flow of manuscripts, out of scope cases, poor outcome, local studies, clinical contents etc.

Open Access Policy

JCMS provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making results of the research freely available to the public and scientists across the globe will help in improving the life of human being in all countries of the world. Under the Open Access policy, all articles are available as outlined by the Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Double Blind Peer Review

Journal of Contemporary Medical Sciences offers a double-blind peer review option. Neither the peer reviewers nor the authors are revealed to each other. Authors may suggest preferred and non-preferred reviewers during manuscript submission. However, the ultimate selection of the reviewers will be determined by the editor(s).

We ask reviewers not to identify themselves to authors while the manuscript is under consideration without the editor's knowledge. If this is not practicable, we ask authors to inform the editor as soon as possible after a reviewer has revealed his or her identity to the author.

Publication Fees

According to new policy imposed by the journal administration, from now (10 July 2022) corresponding authors are requested to pay the publication charge as mentioned below:

Original papers submitted to this journal which do not adhere to the Instructions for Authors will be returned for appropriate revision to be in line with the Instructions for Authors. They may then be re-submitted.

If due to unethical practices the journal has to retract an article, the author is responsible for all potential costs of updating the indexing databases.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.

For non-native English authors, a mandatory language editing fee is applied to ensure the highest linguistic standards, with transparency provided in our publication policies and clear communication during the submission process.
